Our impact

I’m a strong believer that individuals have the power to make a difference by making small changes. Take a look at some of the things I’m doing as a business owner to reduce my carbon footprint and be more conscientious about people and planet.

GREEN WEBSITE HOSTING

This website is hosted by Krystal, which provides 100% green web hosting, is a certified B-Corporation and is a member of 1% for the planet.

POWERED BY SOLAR

I work primarily from home, where I have solar panels generating electricity on a daily basis. That means that most of the electricity I use whilst working on your SEO is from renewable energy.

TRANSPORT CHOICES

Unfortunately, I live in the middle of nowhere, so eco-friendly transport isn’t always an option. There is a bus stop outside my house, but during the first year I lived here I only saw a bus twice. And it hasn’t improved since then. So travelling without a car isn’t always an option. However, I have invested in an electric bike and try to use that to cycle to meetings or to the nearest train station. For longer journeys (or when the weather is truly terrible – a common occurrence here in Cumbria), I use my small electric car.

CAREFULLY SELECTED EQUIPMENT

From electronics and notepads to stationery and business cards, there’s a lot of purchases that go into running even a home office. Whenever purchasing new equipment, I try to make conscientious decisions that will make less of an impact while still allowing me to do an effective job. Some of my equipment includes:

  • A refurbished Acer laptop
  • A Fairphone mobile phone
  • A standing desk made of 100% renewable materials
  • Recycled notepads from the likes of VENT for Change
  • Business cards from MOO created from scrap materials from the fashion industry

We also try – where possible – to support smaller independents, avoiding companies with questionable ethical practices such as Amazon.

Futureproof Cumbria

Singing SEO Ltd is a member of the Futureproof Cumbria Business Supporter Network, a group of organisations in Cumbria that believe it is possible to be both profitable and carbon neutral.

Charity of the Year

Since 2024, we have donated over £4,000 to Buglife and The National Trust to help restore and protect nature. In 2026, we continue to support Buglife, a charity that aims to save “the small things that run the planet”.

How can we do better?

There is always more that can be done to reduce our environmental impact and ensure a fairer world for those who live in it. I’m always looking for ways to do better, and if you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
